Which tool do I need?
- Before you buy fabric
- Use the size calculator with your design size, then add the margin it suggests. The stitch time calculator tells you if it will be done in time.
- Before you buy floss
- Enter each colour in the floss calculator. If your pattern uses another brand, convert the numbers first with the thread converter.
- When you design your own
- Print graph paper at your fabric count, or match colours from a photo with colour to floss. For a whole photo, the pattern maker does it all.
- When the fabric is on your table
- Print the fabric ruler for your count and lay it on the cloth to check the size and mark the centre before the first stitch.

- Do the tools work with brands other than DMC?
- Yes. The floss calculator, thread converter and colour finder cover 21 brands, including Anchor, Madeira, Cosmo, Sullivans, Weeks Dye Works and The Gentle Art.
- How do I print the ruler and graph paper at the right size?
- Print at 100% or actual size, not fit to page. Then check one inch with a ruler.
- Do the tools work for evenweave and linen?
- Yes. The floss calculator has an over-two setting; for the size calculator, use 14 for 28-count linen stitched over two.
