Size and fabric count

A counted chart has two sizes: stitches on the grid, and inches on the cloth. Mixing them up is the usual reason a photo conversion looks “too big to stitch.”
Stitches are not inches
When you convert a photo in Pixvix, you choose a stitch width and height. That is the chart. Fabric count then decides how large that chart is on Aida. The product never treats a 300-stitch width as 300 inches.
The Pixvix formula
Finished inches = stitches ÷ fabric count. Centimetres = inches × 2.54. A new chart defaults to fabricCount 14, matching 14-count Aida. You can change cloth in Chart info; existing stitches stay on the grid.
Why photo charts get huge
A detailed photograph wants many stitches or it looks blocky. Many stitches on 14-count become a large cloth. Reduce width in the converter, or pick a higher fabric count, or both. The size calculator shows the trade immediately.
Read the diagram
Count is stitches packed into one inch of Aida. Stitch count is how many of those squares the chart uses. Finished size is the division of the two — not a hoop name, and not the pixel size of your photo.
What we will not hide
Pixvix does not currently model stitching over two threads on linen. If you work over two on 28-count, treat the effective count as 14 in this calculator so the inches match your cloth.

- Where is this shown in the app?
- Editor → Info: canvas size, fabric/cloth, stitch count, and finished size. Workspace uses the same chart; it does not restitch a different count.
- Is 14-count required?
- No. It is the default for new originals. Shop charts keep the count they were designed on.
