How the converter finds a match
- 1
Pick the brand and number
Choose the brand you have, start typing the number and pick it from the list.
- 2
Choose the brand you want
Pick one brand for the best match and four alternatives, or every brand at once for a quick comparison.
- 3
Read the match quality
ΔE is the colour difference: under 2 is hard to tell apart, under 5 is close, above 10 is noticeably different.
- 4
Check in daylight
Screens and dye lots vary. Hold the real skeins side by side before you commit a large area.
Turn any photo into a pattern
Real DMC colours, symbols, a thread list with skeins and a printable PDF.
Questions
- What is the Anchor equivalent of DMC 310?
- DMC 310 (black) converts to Anchor 403. Type 310 above to see Anchor and every other brand at once.
- Are thread conversions exact?
- No conversion is perfect. Brands dye to their own palettes, so a chart equivalent is the nearest published match, not an identical colour. The ΔE score tells you how close each option is.
- What does "Chart match" mean?
- The thread is listed as the equivalent in the brand conversion chart. Other suggestions are the nearest colours by CIEDE2000 colour difference.
- Can I convert a whole pattern to another brand?
- Yes. Open the chart in PIXVIX and switch the thread brand: every colour is converted and the thread list and PDF update.
