Each bar is one week of stitching. Estimates count full cross stitches only; add time for backstitch, knots and finishing.
How the estimate works
- 1
Size or stitch count
Enter the stitch count from the pattern, or the width and height in stitches and how much of the area is stitched.
- 2
Set your pace
Many stitchers do 100 to 300 full stitches an hour. Time yourself for 15 minutes on your own project for the best number.
- 3
Add your weekly time
Hours per week turn the total into weeks and a finish date from today.
- 4
Optional deadline
Add a date such as a birthday or Christmas to see how many stitches a day you need.

Questions
- How many cross stitches can you do in an hour?
- Most stitchers manage 100 to 300 full stitches an hour. Large single-colour areas go faster; confetti stitches with many colour changes go slower.
- How long does a 100 × 100 cross stitch take?
- A fully stitched 100 × 100 design has 10,000 stitches. At 200 stitches an hour that is about 50 hours, or about 8 weeks at 6 hours a week.
- Does the estimate include backstitch?
- No, it counts full stitches. Add 10 to 20% for detailed backstitch, French knots and finishing.
- How can I finish before a deadline?
- Pick a smaller fabric count design, fewer colours, or a design with less full coverage. PIXVIX can resize and simplify a pattern before you start.
